The 8,200-acre Ute Lake State Park offers walleye fishing, along with bass, crappie, and catfish. Sitting at an elevation of 3,900 feet, Ute Lake is one of the longest lakes in the state at nearly 13 miles, as well as narrow, with its width never exceeding one mile across. It has a marina and a full range of water sport activities.
With its scores of inlets to explore, the lake abounds in ducks, quail, doves and pheasant. Deer and antelope roam the surrounding plains and mesas. Round-the-clock fishing is available every day of the year for anglers. The lake has produced several state-record game fish.
The deep-blue lake attracts a variety of boaters, and especially during summer, visitors are apt to see a mix of fishing boats, ski boats, personal watercraft, and sailboats. Windsurfing is particularly popular in spring.
