The River Walk Trail makes a loop around the Chicorica Creek. Begin the loop by crossing the bridge behind the Visitor's Center and turning right. The level gravel trail follows the original coal camp railroad bed for 100 yards and passes by the foundations of the "New Town" section of the camp.
A bridge spans the creek at the south end to return visitors to the Visitor's Center along the west bank. The 'riparian' (river) habitat found along this trail is home to an abundance of birds, including red-naped sapsuckers, chickadees, vireos and Cooper's hawk.
This 0.5 mile trail is rated easy.
