Pecos National Historical Park, preserves 10,000 years of history including the ancient pueblo of the park, two Spanish Colonial Missions, Santa Fe Trail sites and the site of the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass. The park was expanded in 1990 to 6,600 acres. Since park expansion is new, some areas are not yet open to visitors.
The Park's high elevation (7,000 feet) means cold winters, mild summers.
