Pecos National Historical Park, preserves 10,000 years of history including the ancient pueblo of the park, two Spanish Colonial Missions, Santa Fe Trail sites and the site of the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass. The park was expanded in 1990 to 6,600 acres. Since park expansion is new, some areas are not yet open to visitors.
The Park's high elevation (7,000 feet) means cold winters, mild summers.

Facilities: Restrooms are provided at the Pecos National Historical Park. A picnic area is near the mission ruins.

Reservations: Guided tours are available to groups with advance reservations. Reservations for school groups and tour groups should be made two weeks before the visit.

Best Time To Visit: The Pecos National Historical Park is open daily, check on holidays.

Fees: A nominal admission fee is charged.

Accessibility: This area is handicap accessible. Eighty percent of the ruins trail is accessible to persons in wheelchairs.

Rules: No camping or lodging in the park.

Directions: The park is located twenty-five miles southeast of Santa Fe, NM off Interstate 25. Visitors traveling north on I-25, take exit 299 to Pecos village and south 2 miles. Those traveling south take exit 307, 5 miles north to the park.
