The Los Tanos Camping Area, located within the Santa Rosa Lake State Park, is surrounded by low, rocky hills dotted with pinon and juniper trees. There are 16 individual primitive campsites for tents.
Santa Rosa Lake offers a variety of water sports which include fishing, boating, water-skiing, canoeing, and wildlife enthusiasts. Anglers usually have luck fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye and crappie. There are also sunfish, yellow perch, and a few trout.

Facilities: Restrooms and picnic areas are provided at Los Tanos Camping Area.

Reservations: Certain campsites at Los Tanos Camping Area within the Santa Rosa Lake State Park do require reservations.

Best Time To Visit: Unknown

Fees: A day usage fee and an overnight camping fee do apply.

Accessibility: The restrooms, group shelters, showers, and courtesy dock are all handicapped accessible. There are two short, easy trails, both paved and wheel-chair accessible, maintained by the U.S. Corps of Engineers.

Rules: Know all park rules and regulations, which are posted in the park.

Drive only on designated roadways and obey posted speed limits.
Camp only in the designated areas.
Keep pets on leashes.
Do not feed the wildlife.
Be aware that vandalizing, defacing, or removing antiquities, minerals, plants or wildlife is absolutely prohibited.
Bring and drink ample water, at least one gallon per day per person, and allow for the extreme heat of the desert in the summer.

Directions: Los Tanos Camping Area is seven miles north of Santa Rosa via NM 91.
