Scenery, a quiet natural setting, and easy access make Hyde Memorial State Park a favorite picnic area, campground, and base camp for excursions into the surrounding Santa Fe National Forest. Sledding, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing are delightful winter.
Located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the park is vegetated with dense stands of evergreens, as well as aspen and shrubs.
There are more than 50 camping and picnicking sites nestled throughout the park. Water taps service each group of campsites. Numerous three sided Adirondack shelters are available off the main road, in addition to seven sites with electric hookups. Three attractive large group picnic shelters and a remodeled lodge for groups of 75 to 100 are used for weddings, reunions, retreats, and conferences. A large playground is located in the central section of the park.
