| A popular year-round retreat surrounded by ponderosa pine forests, Fenton Lake State Park is a mountain escape with a 35 acre fishing and canoeing lake. A popular fishing hole for New Mexico residents, with wheelchair accessible platforms, and a biathlon trail, the park also attracts hikers and cross-country skiers, who often use it as a base for excursions into the adjacent Santa Fe National Forest.Fenton Lake is closed to sailboats, sailboards and all powerboats (including those with electric trolling motors) but open to canoes, rowboats, and inflatable boats. The park has only one trail, the Hal Baxter Memorial Cross-Country Ski Trail and Biathlon Practice Area. |
