El Porvenir Trail
Courtesy of EatStayPlay.com
For the first five miles, of El Porvenir Trail follows El Porvenir Creek through the bottom of the spectacular canyon made by Hermit's Peak and El Cielo Mountain. After meeting Hollinger Creek, the trail continues through open meadows along Beaver Creek at a constant moderate incline.
During wet years, the wildflowers along this trail are often spectacular, starting with the iris in late spring or early summer. After the junction with Lone Pine Mesa Trail 214, the trail starts a long steep ascent to the top of the divide. Near the top, the trail can be difficult to follow in the open meadows. The trail ends at the junction with Skyline Trail 251.
