The El Caso Throwdown Campground are partially developed campgrounds located at the east end of Quemado Lake. They are nestled in a valley stretching alongside an intermittent stream and are surrounded by ponderosa pine and cottonwood trees which offer more shade than the other campgrounds in the recreation area.
The El Caso campgrounds are popular with hunters, groups, and campers desiring a more primitive camping experience than that offered in our fee sites.

Facilities: Restrooms and fire rings are provided at El Caso Throwdown Campground. Drinking water is not provided. Other facilites can be found at the closest general store, Snuffy's, just west of the lake.

Reservations: Unknown

Best Time To Visit: El Caso Throwdown Campground is open year round.

Fees: There is no fee for camping at El Caso Throwdown Campground.

Accessibility: This campsite is handicap accessible.

Rules: This campground is located within the Gila National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To get to El Caso Throwdown Campground from Lordsburg travel I-10, turn right on I-25 travel to Socorro. Travel west on US-60 to Quemado. From Quemado, NM, go south on NM 32 for 14.2 miles to Quemado Lake/NM 103 sign. Then go east on NM 103 for 4 miles to where Forest Road 13 (gravel) begins. Follow FR 13 and the campground is on the right approximately two miles after the lake and after crossing the cattle guard past El Caso III.
