Abiquiu Reservoir

The Abiquiu Reservoir is becoming a popular summertime recreation area. Recreation facilities are located on the reservoir's northwest side. They include boat launching ramps, parking areas, a group shelter, picnic shelters complete with tables and fireplaces, campsites, a tent-only area, an overlook with picnic facilities and a handicapped/ senior citizen's fishing dock. Several picnic shelters are also situated on a rock rim overlooking the Rio Chama.
Fishing at this reservoir and the Chama River below the dam is very popular and usually fairly productive most any month of the year. The most abundant game species sought after in the reservoir are rainbow Trout, Walleye, Kokanee Salmon, Smallmouth Bass, Channel Catfish with an occasional White Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass and Brown Trout being caught.
