Tongue River Reservoir State Park Campground is near a 12-mile long reservoir and situated among scenic red shale, juniper canyons, and the open prairies of southeastern Montana. The park is loved by Montana and Wyoming anglers, campers, and boaters. Water sports are popular here and the park boasts excellent fishing as four state record fish have been pulled from its waters.

There are 40 campsites all of which can accommodate RVs and trailers, however there is a maximum length limit of 50 feet. There is a per night fee and a 14 day stay limit but no reservations are required.

There is a beautiful day use picnic area that does charge a fee but does not require reservations. It is located within Tongue River Reservoir State Park Campground.

There are lots of nearby fishing opportunities in Tongue River Reservoir, the best in the state, but be sure to have a proper and valid Montana fishing license before casting in your line.

Non-motorized boating is a great way to view wildlife and appreciate the landscape in the area. Motorized boating is permitted, so most non-motorized boats find areas away from high traffic watercraft use. Early mornings are also a good time for non-motorized craft, but be sure to have the proper license needed to operate a boat.

Tongue River Reservoir also offers swimming which is the best way to cool off on a hot day and is a great way to keep the kids busy if you just want to relax in the sun.

There are lots of wonderful hiking trails in the area which makes this the perfect place for any nature enthusiast who is interested in nature and scenery viewing.

Turn left at WY-338 north/Decker Road. Entering Montana. Continue onto Highway 314. Turn right in 2 miles. Destination will be on your right.
