| Upper Holter Lake is a pristine body of water just waiting for the avid fisherman or nature lover to spend a day and relax by the beautiful blue water. Upper Holter Lake sits at an elevation of 3,580 feet and is located northeast of Helena. So come on down and enjoy the numerous recreational activities supplied here.For the fisherman out there the lake has a large selection of fish, they include: Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Burbot, Kokanee, Longnose Sucker, Mottled Sculpin, Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Walleye, White Succker, and Yellow Perch. Boat ramps and docks are provided.While enjoying the great outdoors remember to keep the wilderness wild by cleaning up after yourself. It is very important that we keep our National Forests clean because they are some of the last places in the world where nature has a home. National Forests are a place where animals live, trees grow, and people enjoy themselves. Remember to that anything you bring into the Forest needs to be taken back out. Pack it in, pack it out! |

|  | | Facilities: Upper Holter Lake provides boat docks, restrooms, picnic areas, and a campground located up the Missouri River. Best Time To Visit: Upper Holter Lake is open year round. Fees: The lake does not charge a fee; however there may be fees for other recreational activities such as a boat rental. Accessibility: The docks are wheelchair friendly. Rules: Remember to not pollute the lake and to have all necessary boating and fishing licenses. Directions: To reach Upper Holter Lake from Helena head north on the I-15 for 16 miles until you reach Gates of the Mountains, turn right and follow it for 2 miles where you will reach your destination.
