Located along the Big Lost River in eastern Idaho, Arco is the first city in the world to be lit with electricity generated by nuclear power. Arco is a good lunch stop while visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument, and Arco is the hub of the Lost River Valley and the county seat of Butte County.

Described as a "weird and scenic landscape", Craters of the Moon National Monument is easily accessible from Arco. The 750,000-acre monument contains a diverse array of volcanic features including volcanic rifts, cinder cones, spatter cones, shield volcanoes and lava tubes (caves). From Arco, visitors can access this great site for hiking, bird watching, photography, backpacking and caving.
King Mountain, in the Lost River Range north of Arco near Moore, is a popular site for hang gliding and paragliding. Near King Mountain in the Arco Pass area of the Lost River Range is one of the most unusual scenic features of Idaho. This huge limestone arch stands 80-feet high from the shoulder of the mountain.
