The village of Yellow Pine is high in the Idaho mountains (alt. 4,765 ft), 150 miles north of Boise, surrounded by the Payette and Challis-Salmon National Forests. Yellow Pine and is known as the "Gateway to the Central Idaho Wilderness Area."

There is not much for urban recreation in Yellow Pine, but there are an unlimited amount of recreation opportunities in the National Forests. Visitors to Yellow Pine have easy access to hunting, fishing, camping and hiking and biking trails in the areas surrounding Yellow Pine.
Do you like geocaching? Yellow Pine, Idaho offers over 250 opportunities for geocaching. When you visit Yellow Pine, be sure to bring your GPS and look for geocaches near Yellow Pine.
Yellow Pine is home to the Yellow Pine Harmonica Festival, held annually 1st weekend in August. Each year during the first full weekend of August this mountain hamlet is transformed into the harmonica capital of the western world Pine Harmonica Contest (honoring prospecting pioneers and their pocket harps) has grown into one of the world's largest harmonica events.
