Boise National Forest - Wildlife Viewing In National Forests
Boise National Forest consists of about 2,612,000 acres of National Forest System Lands. It offers a wide variety of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy. Visitors can hike, ride horseback, or motorbike on over 850 miles of trails. Over 7,600 miles of streams and more than 250 lakes are reservoirs offer excellent water sports activities including rafting, kayaking, sailing, and water skiing. There are over 70 campgrounds and picnic areas within the forest.

Lower Salmon River - Mammals
This river provides wildlife viewing. Many people like to go white water boating which can range from half-day to five-day excursions through remote canyons. There are no facilities provided at the river.

Payette River - Bird Watching
This portion of the river offers easy access to rapids of moderate difficulty and is a fine run for boaters with basic skills. Beaches provide areas to swim in. Visitors can also float down the clean mountain river with forested banks and hawks or osprey flying overhead. Facilities are not available.

Ponderosa State Park - Bird Watching
This park spans across a 1,000 acre peninsula. The character of the park is created by diverse topography. Visitors find this particular park to be a great place for bird watching.
