Snake River stretches some 60 miles to its confluence with the Henrys Fork. Major recreation uses include power and float boating, fishing, camping, sightseeing, picnicking, wildlife watching and biking. Outfitters provide fishing and scenic boat trips.

The river scenery varies below the dam, from a narrow channel, to island complexes, waterfalls, scenic canyons with vertical walls reaching hundreds of feet high, back to a level flood plain below Heise. Much of the lower portion of the Snake River is sheltered by broad, dense cottonwood forests and associated shrubs. There are several boating access sites in the corridor.

Directions: To reach Snake River from within Idaho Falls start out going north on Stonebrook Lane toward Stone Run Lane for 0.1 miles. Turn left onto West Sunnyside Road for 1.1 miles. Turn right onto South Yellowstone Highway. Continue to follow US-26 West for 7.4 miles. End at 3659 East Ririe Highway.
