Smokey Bear Campground is set on the shores of the Alturas Lake. A boat ramp is provided. Fishing for trout is popular. Visitors are encouraged to swim, ski, sail, and motorboat in the lake. Access to Sawtooth Wilderness is at the end of Forest Road 205.
