Shoshone Falls is at it's best when water is plentiful. The Snake River echoes with the thundering crash of Shoshone Falls, the Niagara of the West. Here whitewater plunges 212 feet, 52 feet further than Niagara, bathing the area in a rainbow mist. October through April is the best time to view the falls. During the summer months, water is retained upstream for irrigation.
