Shafer Butte Campground is located in a high open meadow with views of high mountain peaks. There is a 3 mile nature trail and an east loop to lookout and Moore's Mountain. Wildlife present in the area include elk, deer, Mountain Lions, coyotes, and Black Bears.

Best Time To Visit: Shafer Butte Campground is open July through September.

Fees: An overnight fee is charged.

Accessibility: This campground is handicap accessible.

Rules: The maximum length of stay is 14 days.

Directions: To reach Shafer Butte Campground from Boise, travel northeast on Bogus Basin Road for about 16 miles to Forest Road 374. On Forest Road 374 travel north about 3 miles to Shafer Butte Road. Take Shafer Butte Road east about 2 miles to reach the campground. 4WD is recommended.
