Priest River winds from Priest Lake to its confluence with the Pend Oreille River through low wetlands, rapids and pools adjacent to forest and farmlands. It is popular for floating and kayaking. Visitors can put in at Outlet, but will have to paddle about a mile across Priest Lake and do a portage. Visitors can also put in at Dickensheet Campground. There is a swimming area at the confluence of the Priest and Pend Oreille Rivers near the town of Priest River called Mudhole. Wildlife viewing is exceptional while traveling down the river.
