Lake Creek Trail #64 stretches over 9 miles. A level of difficulty of easy to moderate was established. The trail begins off Copper Basin Road #138, and ends at Golden Lake. An elevation of 8,000 feet is reached cumulatively.
This motorized trail was reconstructed to accommodate trail bikes in 1983 with state funds. The path follows Lake Creek through mountain meadows and thickets of lodgepole pine at a moderate climb. Three miles up the canyon the traveler will pass an old historic mining cabin. After leaving the canyon, visitors will begin climbing at a steeper rate ( 12% to 20% grade) and negotiate switchbacks until it reaches the attractive Round Lake where, if visitors have come prepared, they may catch a mess of arctic grayling!
The trail makes a moderate loop to all the lakes, then drops down to the main trail again. A number of aspen and conifer trees will be noted in this area.
