Kane Lake Trail #66

Kane Lake Trail #66 stretches a length of 5 miles. The level of difficulty ranges from easy to difficult. The trail begins at the trailhead at the end of Kane Canyon Road #134 via Trail Creek and ends at Kane Lake. The trail reaches a cumulative elevation of 7,800 feet. It follows Kane Creek through aspen patches, with the beautiful high Pioneer Mountain Range in the background. Kane Lake is described by all as the prettiest in the Lost River Ranger District and is well stocked with fish. This mile leaves the bottom and the trail becomes very hard to identify.
The glacial basin is granite and rock with very scattered alpine fir. Around the lake is more scattered fir. The beauty is enhanced by the view of sharp mountain peaks surrounding the trail. While the visitor cannot see the far, open distances experienced on other trails, the scenery is still rated among the best. Elk and deer help create the mood!
