Heyburn State Park was an ideal place for an encampment. Then, as today, the lakes provided an abundance of fish, the marsh areas had plentiful waterflow and the heavily timbered slopes and open meadows were ideal habitat for deer, bear and upland birds. Heyburn State Park was created from the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation by an act of Congress. Heyburn is the oldest state park in the Pacific Northwest.
This park provides developed campgrounds for its visitors.

Facilities: Heyburn State Park provides developed campgrounds, a boat marina, volleyball areas, and cabins.

Reservations: Heyburn State Park requires reservations for large groups.

Best Time To Visit: Check out is at 1:00 pm.

Fees: A campground fee is charged.

Accessibility: The park is handicap accessible.

Rules: Reservations must be made for large groups.

Directions: To reach Heyburn State Park from Coeur D'Alene start out going west on east Garden Avenue toward north 4th Street for 0.4 miles. Turn right onto Northwest Boulevard for 0.5 miles. Take the US-95 ramp toward Plummer for 0.1 miles. Turn left onto US-95 for 28.9 miles. Turn left onto west Conklin North Park Road for 5.2 miles. West Conklin Park Road becomes Heyburn Road for 2.0 miles to 1291 Chatcolet Road.
