Clearwater River - Middle Fork

Clearwater River - Middle Fork provides an easy float along scenic Highway 12. Wildlife viewing is good here and the river is very easy to access. Float trips often begin in Lowell which is 22 miles upriver from Kooskia. Lewis and Clark interpretive trips are also available. After a long, difficult crossing of the Bitterroots, it was at this section of the Clearwater that Lewis & Clark finally came upon navigable waters.

Directions: To reach Clearwater River - Middle Fork from Nezperce, start out going west on 4th Avenue toward Oak Street. Turn left onto Oak Street. Turn right onto 8th Avenue, then left onto Walnuts Street. Continue to follow ID-162 for 7.5 miles. Turn left onto ID-162 for 15.2 miles. Turn left onto Main Street for 0.1 miles. Turn right onto 3rd Street. Continue to follow US-12 for 7.5 miles. Turn right onto ID-13 0.2 miles. Turn slight left onto Broadway Avenue for 0.1 miles.
