Cherry Bend is a nice picnic spot along the St. Joe River popular for St. Maries community events, too. River activities are popular here. The upper 30 miles of the St. Joe makes for challenging whitewater rafting or kayaking in early July. The 70-mile section from Avery to Lake Coeur d'Alene is appropriate for all skill levels.
