Black Lake Campground is situated among sub-alpine fir in the crags of the surrounding peaks. There is fishing for trout in the adjoining Black Lake. There are hiking trails on site that lead to other high alpine lakes. Wildlife in the area includes black bears, coyotes, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer, and elk.
