Big Elk Creek Campground is situated in an aspen grove next to Palisades Reservoir. The reservoir provides boating and fishing for rainbow, lake, and cutthroat trout. There are numerous trails in the area and wildlife present includes otters, water fowl, deer, elk, black bears, and hawks. There are 21 single sites and 2 group sites.
