Ride Ainahou Ranch

Ride Ainahou Ranch goes four and a half miles down the Chain of Craters Road turns onto a service road and passes through the locked gate. Stay on the signed route. The rough road descends 800 feet in 2.7 mi (4.4 km) toward the Keauhou hiking trail, with great views of the coastal plain. This route can be very hot and dry with a vigorous return uphill.

Facilities: There are no facilities along Ride Ainahou Ranch.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Ride Ainahou Ranch.

Best Time To Visit: Ride Ainahou Ranch is open year round.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Check at the Kilauea Visitor Center on the status of this route.

Directions: Ride Ainahou Ranch is located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

To reach Hawaii Volcanoes National Park from Kailua-Kona, drive southeast for about 96 on HWY 11 (2 to 2 1/2 hour drive).
To reach Hawaii Volcanoes National Park from Hilo, take Hwy 11. The park is 30 miles from Hilo (45 minute drive).
