Ualakaa Trail

Ualakaa Trail begins in Puu Ualakaa State Wayside. It is a short loop through thick forest canopy. At the uphill end of the trail hikers come to a 4-way intersection with Makiki, Moleka, and Maunalaha Trails. There is a system trail map at this intersection.

Facilities: There are no facilities available on Ualakaa Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Ualakaa Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Ualakaa Trail is open year round.

Rules: Stay on the trail. Keep dogs on leash. Pack out at least what you pack in. No open fires.

Directions: Ualakaa Trail is located within the Puu Ualakaa State Wayside, which lies north of downtown Honolulu and can be accessed directly from Round Top Drive, off Makiki Street. Proceed uphill on Round Top Drive. At a hairpin turn, look for Puu Ualakaa State Wayside on the left. Drive into the Park looking for the trailhead sign at the end of the first curve of the road. Continue up the road to the parking area, and then walk back down the road to the trailhead.
