Maunalaha Trail is a 0.7 mile hike that begins behind the Nature Center. It crosses a bridge and proceeds left. After one switchback, the trail steeply climbs the east ridge of Makiki Valley.
At 0.7 mi., the trail comes to a 4-way intersection. The extreme right route is the Ualakaa Trail and it leads to the Ualakaa State Park. The second route leads to the Moleka Trail Trailhead as well as Round Top Drive. The left route is the Makiki Trail, which drops down in the valley, and then goes back up to Tantalus Drive. Hikers can also take this route, cross the valley until reaching an intersection, turn left and precede makai (toward the ocean) on Kanealole Trail. This route forms a loop which will lead back to the Nature Center and Division of Forestry and Wildlife Baseyard.
