Makiki Trail

Makiki Trail is part of the Honolulu Mauka Trail System. The trail descends into Makiki Valley and contours for approximately 1.1 miles to reach Round Top Drive on the east side. Vegetation along the trail includes swamp mahagony, eucalyptus, and some native Hawaiian plants. This trail connects with Kanealole and Maunalaha Trail, forming a popular loop hike. This trail also intersects other trails including Nahuina, Ualakaa and Moleka Trails.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided on Makiki Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Makiki Trail.

Directions: To reach Makiki Trail from Honolulu, proceed uphill, towards the mountain (mauka) on Tantalus Drive. Approximately 1/2 way to the top, look for the trailhead sign on the right hand side of the road. Prior to the Makiki Valley Trailhead sign, there is a small parking area on the corner. Hikers may park here.
