Hawaiian Railway Museum

Take a ride on the historical O'ahu Railway and Land Company train which served as the transportation backbone of O'ahu from 1889 to 1947. Fully narrated train rides travel along six miles of restored track.
The Hawaiian Railway Society is an educational, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving, restoring, and protecting Hawai'i's railroading history. Hawaiian Railway Museum is the only railroad on O'ahu and the only operating railroad museum in the State.
Collections: open-air exhibits include three operating original diesel locamotives; Historic O'ahu Railway and Land Company locomotives and cars, U.S. Army and U.S. Navy locomotives and cars, ten miles of railroad tract, 6 and a half of which are operational; several original steam locomotives, several pieces of rolling stock including Benjamin Dillingham's private parlor observation car built in 1900 and restored in 1995
Programs and tours: fully-narrated train rides, exhibits of historical locomotive and train cars, rides and display inspections; school tours and programs
Nonprofit organization
Railway right of way from Ewa to Maili Hawai'i and the National Register of Historic Places.

Facilities: Hawaiian Railway Museum has rental facilities available; museum store with train items; picnic area. The library is for members only.

Reservations: Group reservations are required to visit Hawaiian Railway Museum and to ride the train.

Best Time To Visit: Hawaiian Railway Museum is open Sundays only, 11:30 am-4:30 pm; train rides at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, seating first come, first served; special tours by appointment

Directions: To reach Hawaiian Railway Museum from Honolulu: take H-1 west, exit on 5A Ewa. Stay on hwy 76 south for 2 1/2 miles. Turn right at Tesoro Gas Station (Renton Rd.), continue for 1 1/2 miles. Turn left onto small lane with a cul-de-sac. Entrance to Hawaiian Railway Museum will be on your right, through the chain link fence. Hawaiian Railway Museum is located at 91-1001 Renton Road, Ewa. There is ample parking.
