Natural and cultural sites within Polihale State Park make this a great place for watching sunsets and viewing scenery. A wide sand beach backed by tall dunes comprises the camping area of the park. Further north Polihale Cliff with a traditional heiau forms the boundary of the park.
Recreation opportunities at Polihale State Park include exploring, camping, picnicking, sunbathing, shore fishing, viewing scenery and photography. Swimming at this site is not recommended as strong currents make the water treacherous.

Facilities: Polihale State Park provides campsites, picnic tables and pavilion and restrooms.
The camping area at Polihale can accommodate up to 60 people.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Polihale State Park. The camping permit serves as reservations.

Best Time To Visit: Polihale State Park is open year round.

Fees: A fee is charged for the camping permit and for campsites.

Rules: A camping permit must be obtained through the Kauai District of Hawaii State Parks

Directions: To reach Polihale State Park from Hanapepe, take Hwy 50 southwest. When you reach the end of Hwy 50, take the dirt road north for 5 miles to the park.
