Welcome to Northeast Colorado! Northeast Colorado offers visitors wide-open grasslands and seas of golden wheat, areas of Colorado that are flat. Locals call it "The Other Colorado" in proud celebration of the area's pioneer traditions and expansive natural beauty. This is where homesteaders quietly moved onto these prairies and built communities, far from the hustle and bustle of the gold rush gripping other parts of Colorado. The Pony Express passed through, as did Kit Carson and Buffalo Bill.

Northeast Colorado offers its fair share of outdoor recreation, as well, with sun filled lakes and reservoirs inviting water sports. Hunters can find set their sights on pheasants, antelope, deer, geese, ducks, quails and wild turkeys. Bonny Lake State Park is well-known for quality water-based recreation, and the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland's nearly 1.5 million acres stretch through parts of northeast Colorado.
