Sterling, a small northeastern farm community with a down-home charm all its own, is actually the largest city in the Northwest corner of Colorado.

A few special highlights have marked Sterling over the years, including about a dozen "living trees" sculptures - trees carved into forms ranging from a clan of giraffes to "The Golfer" are scattered throughout town. Two sculptures make their home in shady and simple downtown Columbine Park.
North Sterling, Jumbo, and Prewitt Reservoirs offer boating, camping, and warm-water fishing. Geological wonders in the midst of this flat farming land are the 250-foot chalk cliffs at Chimney Canyons, about eight miles outside Sterling.
Do you like geocaching? Sterling, Colorado offers over 150 opportunities for geocaching. When you visit Sterling, be sure to bring your GPS and look for geocaches near Sterling.
Sterling's Overland Trail Museum is not only one of the state's best small-venue museums, but it's a great place to stop for more information on the area. Housed in a stone re-creation of Fort Sedgwick, the center highlights the importance of the Overland Trail in helping overcome conflict between Indians and settlers in the 1860s.
