| | Pikes Peak is undoubtedly the most famous landmark in Colorado Springs. Rising out of the foothills, this 14,110-foot mountain inspired the song "America the Beautiful." Today you can ride the country's highest cog railway to the top, or hike portions of famed spire. Some even race cars up it during the annual Pikes Peak Hillclimb.There are about 30 major cultural attractions in Colorado Springs. Some great starters: Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, with 19th- and 20th-century American art and Native American and Hispanic artifacts; Colorado Springs Museum, featuring a historical interpretation of the Pikes Peak region; the World Figure Skating Museum and Hall of Fame; Peterson Air and Space Museum; U.S. Olympic Training Center; Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (the only of its kind in the U.S.); and Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy.Just west of Colorado Springs is Garden of the Gods - a 1,300-acre park filled with red sandstone formations and trails for exploring. For those who prefer sightseeing by foot or by bike, new interconnecting trails continue to tie together downtown. |  | |  | |
