Petrified Forest Loop - Short Trails (under 2 miles)
A self-guided trail through the bed of ancient Lake Florissant exposes an unusual natural history. The colorful "Big Stump" dominates a forest of silica giants along the path. This trail measures 1.0 mile and is rated "easy".

Sawmill Trail - Short Trails (under 2 miles)
The variety of terrain provides a good example of Colorado's diverse ecology. There are forests of pine, spruce, and fir; meadows that are frequented by elk; ridge tops viewing Pikes Peak; and shaded streams. This trail measures 2.2 miles and is rated "moderate".

Walk Through Time Trail - Short Trails (under 2 miles)
A self-guided trail provides a scenic introduction to Florissant Fossil Beds. The path features giant petrified redwood stumps and outcrops of fossil-bearing shale. This trail measures 0.5 miles and is rated "easy".
