Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area
This refuge is located in Gunnison County at the elevation of 8,000 feet. It contains over 640 acres of grasslands. There is no water in this area.

Beaver Reservoir State Wildlife Area
This remote wildlife area sits high in the headwaters of Minnesota Creek on the western slopes of Mount Gunnison. The road to the site is steep and nearly impassable when it snows.

This area is located high in the Gunnison National Forest just west of Crested Butte. The forests are thick with giant spruce and fir. Fishing is popular at this lake.

McCluskey State Wildlife Area
This wildlife area provides an important winter area for mule dear. Hunting opportunities include elk, bear, grouse, and rabbit.

It is not uncommon to find trout here that weigh over ten pounds. They wait below the dam at Taylor park Reservoir for mysis shrimp and other high-protein tidbits.
