Eleven Mile State Park
This State Park is known by the locals as a great fishing hole. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike, small-mouth bass and carp are all found within the waters of this 3,400 surface-acre reservoir.

Mueller State Park
This park anchors at the west side of Pikes Peak and extends over 5,000 acres. The park offers visitors camping in spectacular forested areas with modern facilities such as flush restrooms and a camper services building. This State Park attracts hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and wildlife spotters.

Medium Trails (4-8 miles)

Boulder Creek Trail
Meandering out past ponds and wetlands and returning up through the ponderosa forest, this sunny trail meets the Monument's western boundary at a distinctive rock formation sometimes called "The Caves". This trail measures 3.2 miles and is rated "moderate".

Hornbek Wildlife Loop
The trail to the historic Hornbek Homestead crosses land once occupied by Lake Florissant. The return route overlooks the ancient lakebed and the mountain ranges beyond. Signs of elk, deer, coyote, and other wildlife are common along the scenic loop. This trail measures 4.0 miles and is rated "moderate".

Aspen Loop Trail
This 0.6 mile long trail is located within the Eleven Mile State Park. It starts and finishes along the Ponderosa Ridge Trail.

Midland Trail
This 2.9 mile long trail is located within the Eleven Mile State Park. It starts along the Aspen loop Trail, and then circles the campground. It ends along the Ponderosa Loop Trail, which will take you back to the Coyote Ridge Campground.

Outlook Ridge Trail
This trail offers spectacular scenery as it gradually descends westward along the ridgeline. For added distance, there are 3 adjoining overlook trails offering scenic and photographic opportunities.

Petrified Forest Loop
A self-guided trail through the bed of ancient Lake Florissant exposes an unusual natural history. The colorful "Big Stump" dominates a forest of silica giants along the path. This trail measures 1.0 mile and is rated "easy".

Ponderosa Loop Trail
This 0.75 mile long trail is located within the Eleven Mile State Park. It starts and finishes at the Coyote Ridge Parking Lot.

Sawmill Trail
The variety of terrain provides a good example of Colorado's diverse ecology. There are forests of pine, spruce, and fir; meadows that are frequented by elk; ridge tops viewing Pikes Peak; and shaded streams. This trail measures 2.2 miles and is rated "moderate".

Walk Through Time Trail
A self-guided trail provides a scenic introduction to Florissant Fossil Beds. The path features giant petrified redwood stumps and outcrops of fossil-bearing shale. This trail measures 0.5 miles and is rated "easy".
