Rifle Falls State Park
This area is the closest you'll get to the tropics in Colorado. The falls is a lush area of trees and greenery kept moist by the spray of the cascading triple waterfall. Camping, hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing are all available.

Rifle Gap State Park
The clean, clear waters of this 350 acre reservoir afford some of the best scuba diving, boating, swimming, water-skiing and windsurfing in Colorado. Camping, hiking and picnicking opportunities at this 1,305-acre park also await the Rifle Gap State Park visitor.

Holy Cross Wilderness
This wilderness, located on the White River and Pike/San Isabel National Forests, derives its name from its key landmark, Mount of the Holy Cross. There are many constructed trails available for travel through this rugged terrain, which offers moderate to difficult hikes.

Long Trails (9+ miles)

Continental Divide National Scenic Trail
When complete, the Continental Divide Trail will climb and descend the peaks of the Rocky Mountains from Canada to Mexico, traversing mountainside meadows, granite peaks and high-desert saddles. Through five states, 25 National Forests, 20 Wilderness areas, 3 National Parks, 1 National Monument and 8 Bureau of Land Management Resource areas- the CDT travels 3,100 miles through America's most dramatic and wild backcountry.

Marvine Trail
This trail, located in the White River National Forest, measures 11.5 miles long and has a difficulty rating of "moderate". The beginning elevation of this trail is 8,100 feet and the ending elevation of 10,954 feet. Horses are permitted on this trail.

Medium Trails (4-8 miles)

Ironedge Trail
This 7.0 mile trail has a beginning elevation of 9,400 feet and an ending elevation of 11,440 feet. This trail has been rated as "more difficult", and will lead visitors past old mining shafts to Lake Charles.

Lake Charles Trail
This 5.7 mile trail has a beginning elevation of 9,400 feet and an ending elevation of 11,300 feet. This trail has been rated as "more difficult", and will lead visitors into the Holy Cross Wilderness Area.

Short Trails (1-3 miles)

Cliff Lake Trail
This trail, located within the boundaries of the White River National Forest, measures 3.5 miles and is rated as "moderate". The beginning elevation is 7,600 feet and the ending elevation is 9,600 feet. This trail sees a heavy amount of usage.

Fulford Cave Trail
This 0.7 mile trail has a beginning elevation of 9,440 feet and an ending elevation of 9,880 feet. The trail difficulty has been rated as "moderate". This trail ends at the Fulford Cave.

Lake Trail
This trail, located within the Sylvan Lake State Park, measure 1.0 miles and circles the lake. It is rated as "easy" and sees high usage. The elevation is 8,500 feet. Mountain Bikes are permitted on this trail.
