| Fishing In Wildlife Preserves & Refuges |
| | Lake Irwin State Wildlife Area | | This area is located high in the Gunnison National Forest just west of Crested Butte. The forests are thick with giant spruce and fir. Fishing is popular at this lake. | |

| | Taylor River State Wildlife Area | | It is not uncommon to find trout here that weigh over ten pounds. They wait below the dam at Taylor park Reservoir for mysis shrimp and other high-protein tidbits. | |

| | Overland Reservoir | | This area offers a beautiful setting with grassy parks and thick green timber. Types of fish present include Rainbow Trout and Brook Trout. | |

| | Paonia Reservoir | | This State Park is common for all types of watercraft. Primitive camping is available. There is a short period of fishing in the reservoir from mid-June to mid-August for northern pike only. | |
