Baker Trail #1301

Baker Trail is accessed via Dodgeton or Indian Creek Trails, making a loop trip possible. Hike 1.5 miles on the Dodgeton Trail from Spring Creek Trailhead to the junction of Baker Trail. After another 1.5 miles visitors will reach Baker Creek, a developed area which includes the Cuchara Ski Area. It is another 1.5 miles to Indian Creek through the tight Baker Creek drainage. The trail stays near the creek and is steeper up to Indian Creek Trail. Visitors will have to make 7 creek crossings, but most of them will be over culverts.
Be warned that the trail has not been maintained recently and is very narrow in places and is not recommenced for motorized vehicles. Mountain bikes are allowed. This is a moderately difficult 3-mile trail, with elevations ranging from 8,500 to 10,000 feet.
