West Peak Trail #1392 intersects with the Vista trail, the Apishapa trail, and Wade trail.
The views from the West Peak Trail are of the Cuchara Valley and north to Greenhorn Mountain and the Wet Mountain Valley. The Culebra Range is viewed to the west and south. The trail is hard for hiking.
This is a difficult 3-mile trail, with elevations ranging from 11,248 to 13,600 feet.

Facilities: There are picnic sites and camping sites at the West Peak Trail #1392.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to hike West Peak Trail # 1392.

Best Time To Visit: West Peak Trail #1392's peak seasons are summer through fall.

Fees: There is a fee required to park at this trailhead.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Directions: To get to West Peak Trail #1392 from Walsenburg: Go south on CO State highway 12 to La Veta. Travel State Highway #12 from La Veta to top of Cucharas Pass, approximately 16 miles. Turn Left on County Road #46 and continue on dirt road. for 6 miles to Cordova Pass Summit and trailhead to West Peak. Then hike 2 miles to timber line and from there it is another 3/4mi. Scramble to summit of West Peak.
