The Hogback Trail winds through sandstone formations and then climbs up the rocky Hogback Ridge that forms the park's northern boundary. As the trail follows the top of the ridge, majestic views of the Spanish Peaks, Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain Ranges can be enjoyed.

Along the two-mile trail, marker posts have been installed to accompany a self-guided brochure containing information about the area's plant and animal life and its history. The brochures are complimentary and can be picked up at the visitor center. Bicycles are prohibited on this designated nature trail.

This trail is located within the Lathrop State Park and measures 2.0 miles. It is rated as "moderate". The elevation is 6,442 feet, and this trail sees low usage.

Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, picnic areas, and 100 campsites that accommodate motor homes, trailers and tents, are all available at this State Park.

Reservations: Reservations are accepted for the campsites.
