| Deep Lake, elevation 10,462 feet, is a natural 37 acre lake with a maximum depth of 65 feet. The inlet streams, Deep Lake Springs flows in at approximately .3 cubic feet and Deep Creek at .2 cubic feet. The outlet stream, Deep Creek flows out at .3 cubic feet. The surrounding setting is subalpine meadows and sparse stands of spruce/fir forest.This area receives heavy fishing pressures for rainbow and brook trout, as well as mackinaw (lake trout). The cold waters of this lake have yielded the Colorado State Record Lake Trout at 36 pounds, 42 inches long. The Colorado Division of Wildlife stocks 10 inch rainbow trout on a regular basis. |
