The Rock Creek Trail #106 begins in an open meadow near Sand Lake. The trailhead is shared with the Sheep Lake trail. The trail runs through lodgepole pine and Engleman spruce forest. It primarily follows Rock Creek but gets above the creek and parallels the canyon walls in some places.
