There is a well managed archery range at Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area. The reservoir here is managed as a put-and-take fishery. It is stocked with rainbow trout and has a population of yellow perch and tiger muskies. Waterfowl can be seen as nature trail leads you around the property.
Recreation at this State Wildlife Area includes fishing, camping, boating, watching waterfowl, archery range practice, and nature trail all for a daily use fee.

Facilities: Camping is permitted in the designated areas only. A restroom and well maintained archery range is provided at Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: Annual or daily use permit required. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Fishing prohibited in inlet structure and annex pond. Minimum size for smallmouth and largemouth bass is 15 inches long. Boating prohibited if it creates a whitewater wake. Camping, fires, horseback riding, target practice, paintball shooting, bicycling, sailboards and sailboats prohibited.

Dog training prohibited except Sept.1 to last day of waterfowl season. Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning any type of recreational use in this State Wildlife Area.

Directions: To reach Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area from Loveland, travel south on US Highway 287 and take a right to Champion. From Champion, go west on County Road 14 west to County Road 21 south, then 1.5 miles north to property.
