Roeber State Wildlife Area

Roeber State Wildlife Area provides an important winter area for mule deer. This State Wildlife Area, and the adjacent McCluskey State Wildlife Area, are both wildlife easements that provide hunting opportunities and access to BLM and Forest Service lands.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Roeber State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed accepted at Roeber State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Roeber State Wildlife Area is open year round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area has limited handicap accessibility.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose. Overnight camping, open fires & dogs are prohibited. Hiking, skiing & rock climbing prohibited except as connected to hunting or fishing activities. Firewood cutting prohibited.

Directions: To get to Roeber State Wildlife Area from Crested Butte: drive north on Colorado State Highway-135, turn left onto Colorado State Highway 133 towards Paonia. To access this property from Paonia, go one mile south on 4100 Road to Lane N80, then two miles south and east to 4200 Drive, and then one mile south to the parking area.
