Mandall Lakes Trail begins opposite the entrance to Bear Lake Campground. At the entrance to the trail there is a registration/ information board. Please register and become familiar with posted information.
The trail climbs through aspen slopes to the Flat Tops Wilderness Boundary at mile 1.0. At this point the trail has been rerouted to avoid a large landslide that occurred in 2001. Making its way up valley, several creek crossings are encountered which can be problematic at high water. Slide Mandall Lake is at mile 3.0 and Black Mandall Lake is at mile 3.7. Continuing you come to Mandall pass at mile 5.4. The last section of this trail climbs 450' in .5 miles.
This is the end of the maintained trail, but guests can access Orno Peak and the Devil's Causeway area by navigating cross-country.
This 5.4 mile trail is located within the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. The beginning elevation is 9,670 feet and the ending elevation is 11,960 feet.
