Cowdrey Lake State Wildlife Area is a fishing area that is heavily stocked with rainbow trout. Ice fishing is available during the winter months. Thick ice may cause winter-kill and signs will be posted if this happens. Waterfowl hunting is allowed on the reservoir except on the north shore. The only access to the west shore is by boat.

Facilities: Camping and restrooms are available at Cowdrey Lake State Wildlife Area. Camping is allowed in the parking area only.

Reservations: No reservations are required to visit Cowdrey Lake State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Cowdrey Lake State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: No fees are charged to visit this area.

Accessibility: There is no handicap access at this lake.

Rules: No mechanical devices are permitted in this area. Boating prohibited if it creates a white water wake.

Directions: To get to Cowdrey Lake State Wildlife Area from Steamboat Springs: Start out going south on US-40, turn left on CO-14, travel to Walden. Go 7.5 miles north from Walden on Highway 125 to access road on left (west).
